Cgb.fr went to Japan for the first time to attend the 26th edition of the Tokyo International Coin Convention.
We were honored to participate in the event and we would like to thank all the members of the Japan Numismatic Dealers' Association for their welcome and all the members of Taisei Coins that have participated in the organization of the exhibition, assisted us and greatly contributed to the success of this event.
We received an extraordinary welcome and we must say that our Japanese friends treated us with courtesy and kindness - a civility to which we are no more accustomed nowadays.
The exhibition started with an official ceremony to which representatives of mints were invited to cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the 26th TICC.
Numerous visitors came on the first day of the fair. They could meet traders mainly from Asia and America. Together with the Monnaie de Paris, we were the only French representatives, and our presence was particularly appreciated.
It was a pleasure and an honor to meet our Japanese customers, some of which have been interacting with us for nearly 20 years.
As usual, we presented French coins, notes and medals to let visitors discover French numismatic.
We were lucky to meet Ms. Satoko Kimoto, Vice President of the "National Printing Bureau" of Japan, and gave her our French coins book "Le Franc X".
The Bank of Japan had organized a print workshop for the occasion in order to show visitors how banknotes are made.
Fabienne Ramos was invited to attend a conference, organized by one of the greatest collectors on Hansatsu. This conference will be dealt with in a future article.
The Japan mint as well as other minting institutions presented coin sets created especially for the event. The one of the Monnaie de Paris was dedicated to the "Petit Prince".
Once again, in order to help develop the market, the organizers sold coin lots and, at the opening, many visitors bought bags full of world coins.
We had the honor of being invited by the Japan Numismatic Association to a traditional dinner where we could exchange with many collectors about Japanese traditions and numismatics. We met a real enthusiasm and this moment will remain one of the best memories of our Japanese tour.

We took advantage of this first visit to Tokyo to buy numerous Japanese coins and banknotes that will be presented soon on the website in a "special Japan" update.
The date is set for next year. We were invited to attend the 27th edition of the exhibition which will take place in early May 2016. We accepted the invitation with much pleasure.
