More than one million Swiss Francs for a Japanese coin.

During the last auction organized by the Swiss company Hess Divo in Zurich, a Japanese Oban was awarded to 1.1 million Swiss Francs (approx. 965,000 €uros).

This gold coin is one of the rarest coin in Japanese numismatic, this is the first Tensho Oban Hishi presented in a public auction, the 5 other known being kept in museums.Japanese Oban cgb.fr

This coin minted in 1588 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi was not intended for circulation but to be given as a gift to reward his generals.

It comes from the famous collection of the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616).
