February 1 (1702) : Battle of Cremone, Northern Italy, between the French and Austrian armies.

February 2 (962) : Otto, King of Germany, was given the title of Emperor of the Romans in Roma.

February 3 (1468) : Death of Johannes Gutenberg, the famous German printer who improve the printing process with metallic characters.

February 4 (211) : Death of Emperor Septime Severe in Eboracum, United Kingdom.

February 5 (1626) : Birth of Marie Rabutin Chantal, married Sévigné, also known as the Marquise de Sévigné.

February 6 (1655) : Birth of Anne, Queen of Great Britain, last sovereign of the Stuart dynasty.

February 7 (457) : Leo Ist becomes the Orient Emperor after his marriage.

           

February 8 (1492) : Coronation of Anne de France in Saint Denis.

February 9 (1867) : Birth of the Japanese novelist Natsume Soseki in Edo. He was the author of I am a cat.

February 10 (1755) : Death of Montesquieu, author of Lettres persanes, in Paris at the age of 66.

February 11 (1127) : Death of William IV, Duke of Aquitaine, Count of Poitou and Gascogne.

February 12 (1690) : Death of Charles-le-Brun, artist and first paintor of Louis XIV, in Paris at the age of 70.

February 13 (1575) : Coronation of Henry III, the last of the Valois dynasty, in the cathedral of Reims.

February 14 (869) : Death of Cyrille, apostle of the Slavs, commemorated by Slovaquia in 2013.

           

February 15 (1710) : Birth of Louis XV in the Chateau de Versailles. He will succeed his great-grandfather Louis XIV.

February 16 (1899) : Death of the French President of the Republic, Felix Faure, in the arms of a demimondaine.

February 17 (364) : Death of Emperor Jovien.

February 18 (1162) : Coronation of Amaury Ist, King of Jerusalem.

February 19 (197) : Beginning of the Battle of Lugdunum, also called Battle of Lyon. The battle opposed Septime Severe to Clodius Albinus.

February 20 (116) : Trajan received the title of Parthicus from the Senate.

February 21 (1322) : Coronation of Charles IV in Reims.

           

February 22 (1403) : Birth of Charles VII in Paris.

February 23 (1934) : Beginning of the reign of Leopold III of Belgium.

February 24 (1670) : A royal edict from Louis XIV orders the construction of the Hôtel des Invalides.

February 25 (138) : Antoninus Pius is chosen to succeed Hadrian.

February 26 (364) : Proclamation of Valentinian Ist as an emperor.

February 27 (1594) : Coronation of Henry IV in the cathedral of Reims.

February 28 (1533) : Birth of Michel Eyquem, Lord of Montaigne, author of the famous Essays.
