Hello ,
We are pleased to present nearly 400 medals from the workshop collection of André-Henri Torcheux.
André-Henri Torcheux was a French sculptor and medalist who studied under Paul Niclausse at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, then under Jean Boucher at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Starting in 1946, he became a drawing professor for the City of Paris. He was awarded the silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Français and also exhibited at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
Among the 24 medals listed in the Monnaie de Paris catalog, you will find about a dozen in our selection, including the medal featuring Moïse Kisling — showing on the reverse a portrait of the painter’s wife — as well as the medal of Tristan Tzara, the French writer of Romanian origin.

His production was also regional: he created numerous medals for cities, such as the medal for the Cité de Manosque (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) and the medal for the city of Saint-Gratien (Val-d’Oise), depicting the Château Catinat.

He also produced private commissions, such as the medal created for the Martin couple and their company Roger Martin, as well as public commissions, such as the medal issued for the Syndicat des Eaux d’Île-de-France.
