Hello ,
We are pleased to announce the release of nine new casts based on the medals of the artist Lydia Luzanowsky, a well-known figure in 20th century sculpture and medal making.

Born in 1899 in Kiev into a family already connected to the artistic world, her father being an art critic of Polish origin, Luzanowsky grew up in Bessarabia and began her training at the Chisinau School of Fine Arts. In 1918, she continued her studies at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts. Quickly noticed, she took part in the early 1920s in the first Bessarabian exhibition of painting and sculpture in Bucharest.
In 1924, she received the Grand Prize for sculpture at the Bucharest Salon, a distinction accompanied by a three year scholarship. She thus moved to Paris, and in the same year became a student of Antoine Bourdelle. From 1926 onward, she exhibited regularly at the Salons des Tuileries, des Indépendants and d’Automne, and later at the Salon de l’Art Libre as well as at the Club France Médaille. Her work was also featured in several group exhibitions at the Zak Gallery and in two solo exhibitions at the Billiet Gallery (1939) and the Altes Gallery (1966).
Throughout her career, Luzanowsky developed a varied body of work, busts, reliefs, drawings, but it was in medal-making that she found a particularly rich field of expression. Among her best-known works is the medal representing Jean Perrin, Nobel Prize–winning physicist, now held in the collections of the Institut Henri Poincaré, and which we have already had the opportunity to offer our clients.
Our shop preserves several of the artist’s medals, including portraits of notable figures, animal subjects, a recurring theme in her work, as well as religious compositions.

We are delighted today to enrich our selection with nine new castings based on her original medals, works already familiar to our clients in their small-module versions presented on our website.

These castings highlight the diversity of Luzanowsky’s subjects and further contribute to the rediscovery of an artist whose works continue to be appreciated by the collectors
