Hello ,
We invite you to discover the latest update to our online shop, now enriched with 76 new items highlighting Portugal. This selection sheds light on a country with a rich artistic heritage, still too little known to our audience. It offers us a unique opportunity to present a facet of the country’s history through the art of the medal. Portuguese numismatics, long understudied and largely unknown abroad, nevertheless benefited from a foundational work as early as 1856 with the publication of Lopes Fernandes’ book.

Beyond coinage, Portugal also stands out for its production of medals of remarkable quality, which we invite you to explore today. This new release features a wide range of medals illustrating Portuguese history and heritage. Enthusiasts of history and architecture will find, in particular, medals depicting emblematic monuments such as La Foncalada or the Church of Saint Paul in Diu.

You will also discover medals commemorating major historical events, such as the Revolution of 25 April 1974, known as the Carnation Revolution, which led to the fall of the Salazarist dictatorship that had ruled Portugal since 1933. Other medals highlight major figures of Portuguese culture, including the writer Eça de Queiroz and Luís de Camões. As you will see, some of these medals stand out for their particularly refined craftsmanship and for forms that move away from the traditional round medal.
This artistic quality is also evident in many other pieces from our selection, notably through medals dedicated to the universal figures of parents, the mother and the father, which express with finesse and sensitivity the distinctive qualities that Portuguese medals so beautifully convey.
