CGB had the honour of attending the Nagoya Coin Fair for the first time at the end of August. The fair took place in the sweltering heat of the Japanese summer, a very different experience to the spring we are used to.
Attended mainly by Japanese professionals, the event gave us a unique opportunity to proudly represent French numismatics internationally.
From the very first day, a large number of visitors flocked to the event, demonstrating the continuing interest of the Japanese public in numismatics. The atmosphere was lively and we had the opportunity to talk to many collectors who had come to discover our wide range of collector coins and banknotes available on our website. The following days were quieter and provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions with professionals, strengthening our existing relationships and paving the way for new partnerships.
This exhibition also gave us the opportunity to share a friendly meal with our loyal customers, while discovering new local traditions. Japanese hospitality, always exceptional, once again confirmed its legendary reputation.
We would like to congratulate the organisers for their impeccable management of the event. Their meticulous attention to detail and efficiency ensured an optimal setting for the exchange with collectors.
However, this momentous occasion was overshadowed by the sad news of the death of Mr Hideo FUTAHASHI, who played a key role in our development in Japan. Since our first visit, he had been an exceptional ambassador for his country, introducing us to many experts and collectors, as well as to iconic places and Japanese traditions.

Mr FUTAHASHI was a major figure in the Japanese numismatic community and a distinguished member of the Japan Numismatic Society. A passionate and erudite scholar, he continually enriched the field through his many writings. At every meeting, we were honoured to offer him our latest publications, which he added to his valuable personal collection. His efforts to promote numismatics went far beyond the borders of his own country, forging strong links with collectors and scholars from all over the world. He also played a key role in major events such as the Tokyo International Coin Convention, where he was a regular speaker at seminars.
As a mentor and friend, we will always remember his dedication, his willingness to share and the warm welcome he gave us on each of our visits. We are deeply saddened by his passing and our thoughts are with his family. We are deeply grateful for the unforgettable memories he has left us.
